No matter what.

One thing that ‪#‎alzheimers‬ has not taken away from us is my parents' love for each other. If anything, it has brought them closer to each other. We have watched the life stresses of marriage fade away: bills, jobs, housework, squabbles. What's left is these two people who just live every moment and don't look back, or really even forward. They are just... present. They laugh. They hug. They kiss. They tease each other. They look out for one another. And if they do bicker, they can't even remember why a minute later. There are so many cruel parts to a disease like this. This is not one of those parts. I don't have the words for how much I love this series of photos that I took. I photographed every single person on their memory care unit, but these are the only ones I can share. All I can say is this: hug your people. If they are old, for crying out loud, visit them. Make them smile. Give them affection. Make sure they have the things they need to feel good about themselves. Love them. No matter what.  💜
